The Story Behind Our Adventure
My name is Laurie and on June 21st, 2006 my 10.5 year old Rottweiler "Mika" lost his battle with canine cancer. This was a devastating time in my life, and it affected me and my family in many ways. There hasn't been a day that's gone by without some type of memory, so my family and I decided to make use of our spare time and make a difference! By developing this project, we're saving the planet from unwanted items that eventually become landfill or curbside waste, while supporting a very important cause. Then it happened... Without any notice, on June 10th, 2016 we lost our beloved 12 year old Rottweiler "Baron" to Osteocarcoma. The following summer, we lost "Keizo" who had just turned 6 years old a few days earlier to spleen cancer and Lymphoma. The pain and heaviness felt inside was a reminder of why we began our journey with the NCCF through our boutique, The Vintage Owl. Losing our 2nd and 3rd dogs to cancer has empowered me to reach further and work even harder to try and save lives. I am very proud to say we have recently added a Southern California Chapter and will be hosting annual fund raising events in the Orange County and San Diego areas. Join us in the fight! Donate your unwanted furniture items and let's make a difference together!
